"The Catskill Revival"
At Vintage Valley Farm
The Catskill Morgan was produced by Aubrey and Evelyn James throughout the 1960's and 1970's. Sired by the great stallion "STILLWATER SENATOR", they were the epitome of the Morgan Horse. Known for their beautiful heads, expressive eyes, wonderful dispositions and great athleticism, the Catskill Morgans were "SPORT HORSES" personifide, long before there was an official title for Morgans with these qualities. You could find them in many backyards as well as the show ring for their wonderful dispositions made them a great family horse. They were kind and accepting of whatever it was that you desired of them. Among "Senator's" 47 offspring are VV Tuff E Nuff and Dunraven Moonraker which belong to Coby Holowacz and Toni Watkins and stand at stud at Vintage Valley Farm in Delhi.
Toni just happens to be the Great Niece of Aubrey and Evelyn James. Aubrey James passed away in 1978 and with his death came the end of breeding at his farm. The youngest Catskill Morgans to carry the "Catskill" prefix are 21 or 22 years old. Evelyn James died on April 30th. 2000 but just prior to her death, Evelyn delighted the Morgan world by signing over permanent ownership of the "Catskill" prefix to Toni Watkins and Coby Holowacz.
On June 24th. 2000, the first foal of a new generation of Catskill Morgans was born. "Catskill Revival" a beautiful chestnut filly, was sired by Dunraven Moonraker (Catskill Senator Mac x Choirboy's Cassandra) and out of Chaslin's Rebecca (Chasley Superman x Catskill Sen Lin). With her birth comes the excitment that this popular and well loved line of Morgans will continue for years to come. It is Coby and Toni's desire to breed Morgan horses that possess the look, disposition, and versatility of their incredible ancestors. We will continue to raise, train and offer to the public, Catskill Morgans that are suitable for the show ring or as wonderful family horses. It is with a great deal of thanks and respect to Evelyn and Aubrey James that Coby and Toni embark on this new venture.
If you are interested in discussing either of their stallions or just the Catskill horse in general you are invited to call or visit.
